Now an LA Fitness, where, as anyone who may have noticed my svelte frame recently, I spend a lot of time…

Sat next door in The Wimpy doesn't count.

Do wimpeys still do the "brown derby" ?

No idea, I only go to the Great Burger Meat Grill Burger Pop Up Burger Company now.

So last week

Wimpey -
Red Sauce in squeezy tomato shaped plastic bottle - Check
No booking 1st come first served - Check
bolted down formica tables for the authentic diner feel - Check

I think they fit the bill perfectly

The Brown Derby does exist

They also have a burger called the Wimpey Bender - The mouth-watering, all-pork, Wimpy bender served curled in a white bun with cheese, sliced tomato, onions and ketchup. Served with Chips.

My daughtesr love it - i tell you what i took em in the week and its fucking trumpy for what it is.

Salford's is bare class. I'm sure they add things that aren't supposed to be on the menu.

I should know, I played an Italian party whore in the Amanda Knox story.

Apologies, as Roual or anyone else who's ever waited for me to produce anything will tell you, I'm a bone idle, alcoholic cunt. Good read by the way.

Oceans was/is a medium sized live venue. Saw Femi Kuti there about 10 years ago. Didn't know DW was there. Weren't they in Vauxhall somewhere too?

I'd say it was on the big side. With the upstairs and side rooms maybe 1,500? Played a couple of things there around when it opened but it very quickly went over to live music. Touted itself as the cat's whiskers but that's usually a sign for early disaster (see "Home"). It was quite stoosh though, proper loading bays, backstage and crews and that. Was a proper theatre previously. I've no idea what has happened to it recent like.

always seemed like a missed opportunity - was never promoted properly and fell off quickly as a result, seemed shut for ages before it actually was. now a cinema.

You are dead right. Especially now the groovy-gang-tide has moved that way.

Cinema makes sense.

I bet some poor cunt has lost his shirt on that place though and is kicking himself every step down Kingsland Road

Only went to Ocean once (Bugged Out NYE) but was impressed with the layout & space
Large bar down one side with no bottlenecks or wading through a dancefloor. Similar to the Forum but not as big.

It was a mega lottery funded lcouncil owned venture that tanked spectacularly:

was a methodist church hall & library before - a radical transformation to pull off
